It's a very weird experience when someone you only know online dies, specially in a setting like Subspace - or any online game really - when you only know them as a spaceship sprite and by their gaming persona which could be a million miles from what they are really like as a person. There's always a chance of a hoax, but as this came completely out of leftfield I have no reason to believe that this isn't true.
Blackout wasn't my first WZ or WZL squad, but it was the first squad where I really learned how to play CTF properly. T.Mac was another new WZ'er on the squad. He was only 15-16yo then, but a good kid and fun to have on chat. We both went on to play for DOMINATION before he stopped playing ss.
I found out today that he died a couple of weeks ago at just 18. You can get more details on the thread his friend dMx started on the WZ forums here.
